An “Emmy” Award Worthy Life

An “Emmy” Award Worthy Life

John packed smiles and chit-chat into every corner of his day.  We always hear about the person that “everyone loved” but sometimes it’s not until that person is gone that their impact on the world is registered.  John was taken way too soon.  He had more loving, more laughing and definitely, more nicknames to be earned.  Most knew him by “Emy” ~ a derivative of his last name but apropos for his life in the limelight.

Born a natural athlete he didn’t embrace sports till his early adult years.  True to the meaning, he hit the ground running.  Not only did he soar by virtue of his 6’ 4” innate abilities, his astounding charisma made everyone want to share a court, cart or bench with him.  His aura drew you in like a soft pillow at the end of a long day.  John was a soul connector and collector.  Didn’t matter what shape or size you were or what line 150 showed on your income tax return, John was that guy that asked you how you were and listened for the answer.  Our Emy also listened to your silence and if he heard pain, he’d shift gears and oftentimes stealthly tip-toe into your darkness and drop some of his magic within.

Emy was comedic grace in action.  Not many perfect living in the moment quite like this character.  He carved his own path through life, constantly bridging the world of work, family and friends with the common theme of adventure.  When you entered his bubble, you knew you were in for a ride that left you breathlessly anticipating the next opportunity to board Conductor John’s train of shenanigans.

Under his superhero cape, existed his own angst despite his best efforts to keep it camoflauged behind his dazzling smile.  A perfectly imperfect human, like the rest of us, John knew the trials of trying to stay up beat in a world that can often be exhausting.  The tears of a clown is how some describe it and most understand it. And yet he rallied.  Everyday he showed up to life  committed to spreading his sparkle.

His light dimmed swiftly upon a diagnosis that seemingly stole him from the world.  A world that could use a few thousand clones of such a remarkable spirit.  His funeral, well, it registered a perfect score in the love and devotion category.  Every walk of life stood in line to give honour to the man that left his handprint on their heart.

John went out floating on a sea of tears borne from an ocean of love.
